ST JAMES BUSINESSMAN CHARGED WITH FRAUDULENT CONVERSION
Forty-six-year-old Mario Clarke, a businessman of Bogue Village, St. James, has been charged with fraudulent conversion following an incident that occurred between September 2025 and October 2025.
Reports are that Clarke entered into an agreement with a man to purchase a 2018 Toyota Voxy motor vehicle from Japan at a total cost of three million Jamaican dollars (JMD 3,000,000). The complainant reportedly paid Clarke an initial sum of one million five hundred thousand Jamaican dollars (JMD 1,500,000) after being told that the vehicle would be delivered upon payment of the remaining balance.
In September, the complainant is said to have paid the outstanding amount. However, subsequent calls to Clarke reportedly went unanswered, and the vehicle was never delivered.
A report was later made to the police, and an investigation was launched.
On Saturday, April 18, Clarke was arrested and subsequently charged.
His court date is being arranged.
