Wanted Man Captured In Portland After Four Year Manhunt
A four-year manhunt for a Clarendon man who was wanted for murder came to an end during an intelligence-led operation in Portland over the weekend. For four years, 43-year-old Leighton Delahaye of James Hill, Clarendon, disguised himself as a taxi operator and evaded law enforcement in Portland. But on Sunday, August 16, the relentless of the Police bore fruit when he was captured by sleuths in Boundbrook, Port Antonio in the parish.
Swift action was taken by a team of officers acting on information that led them to conduct a targeted operation in the community. Delahaye, who was wanted by the St Andrew Central Police for the murder of 29-year-old British national Safia Davy on Hagley Park Road, St Andrew in 2022, was apprehended during the operation.
He is to be handed over to detectives in the St Andrew Central Division, where after the completion of investigative procedures, he will be charged and a court date set for him.
The Portland Police continue to demonstrate their commitment to proactive policing and the pursuit of individuals involved in criminal activities.
Investigations are ongoing.
